Charmaine Pwerle

View Charmaine's Biography and Curriculum Vitae

Charmaine Pwerle is currently one of the most talented and promising of the emerging Utopia artists. Raised by a family of artists with the cultural and artistic practices they imbued her, Charmaine continues to make an impression on the art world by expanding her repertoire and reinventing her unique approach to art making.

Charmaine approaches the canvas with a dynamism and maturity of expression far beyond her years. Her confident, bold line work, reminiscent of her grandmother, Minnie Pwerle, creates an enthralling and dramatic effect. Her main Dreamings are 'My Grandmother's Country' and 'Awelye'. Whilst her paintings have many of the characteristics of her familial Dreamings, Charmaine brings her own distinct talent and intuitive interpretation to their expression.
