Lindsay Bird

View Lindsay Bird's Biography and Curriculum Vitae

As a senior law man, Lindsay Bird is responsible for many themes of men’s ceremonial business. His primary Dreamings include ‘Çharpa’ (Honey Ant), Bush Plum, Men’s Ceremony, Yam Dreaming and Snake Dreaming.

Lindsay Bird's paintings are iconic, often depicting the sacred ceremonial sites where 'Men’s Business' is conducted. Their simple design, but strong meaning and symbolism, reflect Lindsay’s respect for the ceremonies conducted at these sites. They are known for their concentric circles and parallel lines with background dotting of ochre, yellow, red, black and white, also for the distinctive underpainting usually in grey ochre.

Lindsay Bird's paintings are in major public and private collections nationally and internationally.
